Anders Aschim is a Professor of Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics at the University of Inland Norway, affiliated with the Department of Social Sciences, Religion, and Ethics under the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy. His research focuses on Bible translation, ancient Judaism, Norwegian 19th-century history, and religion’s role in migration contexts. As project leader of the FAITHED initiative, he explores non-formal faith education’s intersections with public schools and religious minorities in Norway. He leads the ‘Multicultural Diversity in Education’ (DivE) research group and has authored/co-authored over 15 scholarly works since 2019, addressing topics like religious pluralism in education, cultural history, and biblical studies. His work bridges historical, linguistic, and sociological dimensions of religion, with a focus on Norwegian contexts.
Education: Theological degree from MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society; Doctorate in History from UiT, the Arctic University of Norway.
Research Projects: FAITHED (4-year Research Council of Norway-funded project), DivE group activities. Key publications include analyses of Norwegian Catholic education, Dead Sea Scrolls controversies, and linguistic aspects of Bible translation. His interdisciplinary approach integrates religious history, pedagogy, and migration studies to address contemporary societal challenges.
