Anchal Malik is an Assistant Professor in the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, holding joint appointments in the Department of Dental Public Health and the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care. She specializes in dental caries management, evidence-based dentistry, and educational research. Dr. Malik leads curricular initiatives in dental anatomy, cariology, and caries management, including the implementation of the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS). She actively contributes to interprofessional education and diversity initiatives, serving as a liaison for the University’s Year of Pitt Global (2018-2019) and co-leader of the Year of Diversity and Healthy U programs.
Her professional service roles include membership on the predoctoral admissions committee, leadership in the ADEA’s Minority Affairs Diversity and Inclusion Section, and participation in NIH-funded research at Case Western Reserve University on oral health interventions for low birth weight infants and xylitol prevention trials. Dr. Malik earned her BDS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (India) and an MHA from the University of South Carolina.
Her research focuses on translational applications of caries detection systems, curriculum development, and community-based oral health initiatives. She collaborates across disciplines to advance educational strategies and promote equitable oral healthcare access.
