Bennett Tochukwu Amaechi

Professor Bennett Tochukwu Amaechi is a Professor of Cariology in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He specializes in dental caries management, preventive dentistry, and prosthodontics. His academic journey includes a BDS from Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria), an MSc in Prosthodontics/Dental Implantology from Guy’s Hospital (University of London), and a PhD in Cariology and Preventive Dentistry from the University of Liverpool.

His research focuses on clinical trials of anticaries agents, caries diagnostics, and preventive strategies, supported by NIH grants and industry collaborations. He actively contributes to education through teaching and mentorship, having advised numerous students and faculty globally. Dr. Amaechi has delivered 65 invited presentations and authored over 100 publications, including a book on dental erosion. He holds leadership certifications from UTHSCSA’s Leadership Program (2009) and Teaching Excellence Course (2002).
