Anantha Divakaruni is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Bergen, affiliated with the Bergen Center for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE). His research focuses on Fintech, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Capital Markets, employing computational tools like Python, R, and SQL. He teaches courses on Financial Technology (ECON264) and Finance & Investments.
Education: PhD in Business Economics from Ghent University (2017), Master of Finance from Vlerick Business School, and Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from JNTU, India. Previously, he was a Barclays Research Fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Research themes include Bitcoin adoption, Lightning Network efficiency, bank network dynamics in leveraged buyouts, and the impact of gendered speech patterns in corporate earnings calls. His work bridges economics, technology, and policy, addressing topics like cryptocurrency regulation, austerity-driven fintech growth, and AI’s role in democratizing scientific research.
