معرفی
Professor Ana Vila Concejo is a coastal geoscientist at the University of Sydney's School of Geosciences (Faculty of Science). Her research focuses on coastal morphodynamics, coral reef evolution, and climate change impacts. She holds leadership roles as Deputy Director of One Tree Island Research Station and previously served as its Director (2012–2015). Her career began with studies at the University of Vigo (Spain) and University of Algarve (Portugal), followed by ARC-funded research into coral sand dynamics.
Research interests include: coral reef spur-and-groove morphology, sediment transport on reef platforms, and estuarine beach stability. Recent work explores climate threats to low-lying coral islands and reef resilience to extreme weather.
- Key Projects: Great Barrier Reef in 2100 (ARC Discovery Grant), OTI Coastal Monitoring
- Publications: Over 100 peer-reviewed articles on reef dynamics, including seminal work on tidal inlet evolution and carbonate sediment productivity.
- Awards: ARC Future Fellowship (2011), recognized for pioneering studies in coral reef eco-morphodynamics.
- Labs: Geocoastal Research Group, One Tree Island Station.
Her work bridges field measurements, remote sensing, and modeling to address global coastal challenges. She actively promotes gender equity in STEM through advocacy and institutional reform initiatives.
