Ana P. Gutiérrez Garza

Ana P. Gutiérrez Garza is a Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology at St Andrews University. Her research focuses on care, ethics, migration, and inequality in contexts of precarity, examining how individuals and communities navigate structural challenges.

• PhD in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics (LSE)

Her work includes ethnographic studies of Latin American women in London, anti-eviction movements in Madrid, and care practices among Hispanic migrants in Tulsa. She employs a comparative approach to analyze care, resistance, and cooperation in diverse settings.

Current research explores the political and ethical dimensions of care in austerity-affected societies, with a focus on gender, race, and class intersections. She investigates interactions between migrants and organizations offering advice and support.
