Dr. Ana Cristina Andreazza is a Professor cross-appointed in the Departments of Pharmacology & Toxicology and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and a Collaborator Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). She holds a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Molecular Pharmacology of Mood Disorders. Her research focuses on redox biology, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammation in psychiatric disorders, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets.
- Education: Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
With over 125 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 42), her work bridges molecular mechanisms and clinical translation in mental health. Key research themes include mood disorders, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroinflammation. She has secured funding from the Brain & Behavior Foundation (NARSAD), Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and Ontario government agencies.
- Awards: Canada Research Chair, multiple prestigious grants.
Her lab investigates redox regulation pathways and mitochondrial bioenergetics, with implications for bipolar disorder, major depression, and schizophrenia. Collaborates across disciplines to advance personalized medicine strategies.
