Arturas Petronis

Arturas Petronis is a Professor at Vilnius University and a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada. He leads the Laboratory for Epigenetic Research at Vilnius University's Life Sciences Centre and previously held the Tapscott Chair in Schizophrenia Studies at the University of Toronto. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including 35 in high-impact journals like Nature and American Journal of Human Genetics, he is a pioneer in psychiatric epigenetics.

• Research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms in complex diseases (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and brain etiopathogenesis
• Established the Krembil Family Epigenetics Laboratory at CAMH (2002) and a Laboratory of Epigenetics Research in Lithuania (2018)
• Supervised over 20 postdoctoral fellows and graduated 6 PhD and 6 MSc students

His grants since 2014 exceed $8M, including a 2020 Distinguished Professor grant (€1M) from the Lithuanian Science Council. Key awards include the Global Lithuania Leaders award (2018), multiple Ontario Mental Health Foundation fellowships, and NARSAD awards.
