Ana Alejandra Cabaña Nigro

Ana Alejandra Cabaña Nigro is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, specializing in Advanced Stochastic Modelling. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from the Central University of Venezuela (1993), a Master's in Mathematics from Universidad Simón Bolívar (1986), and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the same institution (1985).

Her research focuses on empirical processes, goodness-of-fit testing, time series analysis, and statistical modeling with applications to epidemiology and public health. She has contributed to methodologies for analyzing under-reported data, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has developed techniques for transforming empirical processes (TEPs) to enhance statistical testing power. Current interests include integrating neural networks with empirical processes to study variable importance.
