Serena Arima is Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Salento's Department of Human and Social Sciences. Her methodological research focuses on Bayesian approaches to complex statistical problems including misreported data analysis, small area estimation, and psychometric modeling.
She leads multiple national research projects: a PRIN 2022 project on modeling violence against women through misreported social data; the SAEQHealth project for health data quality assessment; and contributes to stochastic modeling of compound events. Her applied work spans ecological modeling, biomedical research, and social science statistics.
Arima teaches mathematical modeling, statistics for psychological and biomedical sciences, and data science methodologies across undergraduate and graduate programs.
