Amy Zosel

Amy Zosel, MD, MSCS, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), serving as Division Chief of Medical Toxicology and Director of Research Operations and Mentorship. She completed her MD at MCW, followed by an emergency medicine residency at Northwestern University and a medical toxicology fellowship at the Rocky Mountain Poison Center. Her expertise spans toxicology epidemiology, prescription drug misuse, and physician use of prescription drug monitoring programs. Dr. Zosel is actively involved in medical education, co-directing injury prevention and global health programs for medical students. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the Edward J. Lennon Endowed Clinical Teaching Award and the MCW Outstanding Medical Student Teacher Award (3-time recipient).

Her research focuses on opioid use disorder, naloxone prescribing practices, and the impact of educational interventions on provider behavior. Key contributions include analyzing QTc prolongation from toxic exposures and evaluating the short-term psychological effects of the pandemic. Dr. Zosel also serves on the Faculty Development Committee and is an ED Mentoring Champion, fostering academic growth through initiatives like the Holiday Dinner and Journal Club events for residents.
