Dr Amy Yueming Zhang is a Lecturer in Urban Planning at the University of Manchester, specializing in urban politics, postcolonial theory, and China's urban development. She holds a PhD from Clark University and has held roles at the University of Birmingham and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Her research explores global-local political economic dynamics, urban knowledge mobilities, and creative urban regeneration, funded by institutions like the British Academy. She leads courses such as Urban Theory and contributes to the Manchester Urban Institute.
Key research areas include urban-digital spectacle, temporary creative uses in Beijing, and policy mobilities in Asia. Awards include the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and the First Prize in Postgraduate Research Paper Competition. Current PhD supervision spans topics like green gentrification and rural-urban migrant belonging.
