Verónica Posada

Dr Verónica Posada is an urban researcher, lecturer, and designer currently serving as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS), University College London (UCL) from August 2025 to July 2026, and as an Associate Researcher in Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Derby. Her work critically examines identity, visibility, and belonging within urban diasporic contexts, with a specialized focus on Latin American communities in London.

Her educational background centers on a 2024 PhD from the Centre for Research in Education, Arts, and Media (CREAM) at the University of Westminster. Her doctoral thesis "Latin London: Representation, Diaspora, and the Latin American Community in London" established her research foundation in diaspora representation and urban transformation.

Dr Posada's research operates at the intersection of urban politics, cultural production, and social activism. She investigates how marginalized communities—particularly Latin American diasporas in London—navigate gentrification through collective identity formation and place-making practices. Her methodology uniquely bridges academic research with creative design, community-based activism, and applied social justice frameworks. Key thematic areas include the politics of representation in multicultural cities, community-led urban regeneration, diaspora cultural production, and resistance strategies against spatial displacement. Her current project "Beyond Gentrification: Latin American Market Tales in Seven Sisters, North London" analyzes narratives of belonging in the Seven Sisters Indoor Market, extending her doctoral work into tangible community contexts.
