Dr Amy Williamson is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Music Department at the University of Southampton, serving as Undergraduate Admissions Tutor. She holds a PhD from the same institution, awarded in 2016 through AHRC-funded research on medieval English polyphony. Her career includes roles at the University of Bristol (2019-2022) and collaborative work on AHRC projects like Queer Music, Queer Theory. Teaching focuses include music history, research methods, and gender/identity studies in popular music.
Education: BA (2008), MA (2009), PhD (2016) in Music from University of Southampton.
Research interests span medieval polyphony, music equity/diversity initiatives (focusing on class and disability in higher education), and gender/sexuality dynamics in pop music. Active in interdisciplinary work linking musicology with social justice issues.
Grants: AHRC Full Studentship for PhD (2012-2016). Collaborative research on 13th-century conductus and queer music theory.
