Amy Weldon is a Professor of English and Department Head at Luther College, located in Decorah, Iowa. She is also co-director of the Luther College Writers Festival. Her work spans creative writing, literary scholarship, and interdisciplinary teaching. She has authored multiple books, including *Advanced Fiction: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology* (2023), *Eldorado, Iowa: A Novel* (2019), and *The Writer’s Eye* (2018), which explore creative process, narrative techniques, and environmental themes. Her upcoming novel *Creature: A Novel of Mary Shelley and Frankenstein* (2025) delves into Romantic-era biography and science fiction.
Weldon’s teaching focuses on creative writing, British Romanticism, and study-abroad programs. She has led courses such as “In Frankenstein’s Footsteps” and “English Monsters: From Frankenstein to Big Brother,” integrating travel and literature. Her research interests include 19th-century literature, Southern Gothic, and the intersection of creativity with activism and sustainability. She has been recognized with awards such as the “Highly Recommended Award of Excellence” from The Historical Fiction Company for her work on *Creature*.
Weldon’s contributions extend to pedagogy and community engagement. She codirects the annual Luther College Faculty Research Symposium and has served as chair of the Humanities and Fine Arts Division.
