Ann Frank Wake is a Professor in the Department of English at Elmhurst University, specializing in 19th-century British literature, literary theory, and poetry writing. She earned her Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and completed dissertation research on Mary Shelley's fiction, including direct work with the original Frankenstein manuscript at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne under a Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellowship.

Her research focuses on Romantic/Victorian literature, Gothic fiction, and intercultural studies, with publications on Mary Shelley and Amelia Opie. She co-founded Elmhurst University's Intercultural Studies Program and teaches its courses when possible.
Frank Wake has been recognized twice with the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. She also served as a former poetry editor and has published memoirs, book reviews, and presented at over 30 professional conferences.
