Amy Levad is an Associate Professor of Theology at the University of St. Thomas, College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on mass incarceration ethics, restorative justice, and ecological theology. She holds a PhD from Emory University’s Graduate Division of Religion, an MTS from Emory’s Candler School of Theology, and a BA from the University of Puget Sound.
Levad’s work critiques systemic racism within criminal legal systems and explores faith-based solutions. Her books include Redeeming a Prison Society (2014) and Restorative Justice (2011). She co-founded Breakdown Whiteness, a resource hub addressing systemic racism. Recent publications engage environmental ethics and carceral histories.
