Amy L. Wax serves as Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and holds a concurrent position as Senior Visiting Fellow at the Graduate School of Government. She teaches core courses in Remedies, Conservative Political and Legal Thought, and the Law and Neuroscience of Responsibility, establishing her as a prominent figure in legal academia.
Her research critically examines intersections between social structures and legal frameworks, with primary focus areas including:
- Social welfare policy design and implementation
- Family-workplace-labor market interdependencies
- Foundations of conservative jurisprudence
- Neuroscientific implications for legal responsibility concepts
Professor Wax has disseminated her scholarship through influential law reviews and opinion journals such as Commentary, Claremont Review, First Things, Law & Liberty, National Affairs, and the American Conservative. Her 2009 monograph Race, Wrongs, and Remedies represents a significant contribution to legal theory. Prior to her academic career, she gained practical experience serving in the Solicitor General’s Office of the Department of Justice during the Reagan and first Bush administrations.
