معرفی
Amy L. Stark is an Associate Professor of the Practice at the University of Notre Dame, where she also serves as the Dr. John and Heidi Passarelli Family Director of the DNA Learning Center. She is affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science. Her work bridges academic research and public science education, with a strong focus on genetics and genomics.
Research Interests:
Amy L. Stark's research centers on pharmacogenomics, particularly in oncology, with an emphasis on understanding gene expression changes induced by chemotherapy. Her work explores how genetic and epigenetic factors influence drug response, aiming to enhance treatment efficacy. She is deeply involved in genetics outreach, educating K-12 students and the public through the DNA Learning Center.
Publication Trends:
Her recent research spans proteomics, gene expression regulation, chemotherapy response, and pharmacogenomic variant discovery. Articles reflect a strong integration of molecular biology, genomics, and clinical applications, particularly in cancer therapy and drug toxicity.
- Scientific Recognition:
- Lindau Nobel Laureate NIH Representative, 2010
Leadership & Advising:
Dr. Stark leads student research teams in pharmacogenomics and mentors undergraduate and graduate researchers. She has held leadership roles in the American Society of Human Genetics, including service on the Program Committee (2020–2023). She is also Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair, supporting student scientific inquiry.
Labs & Teams:
She leads the DNA Learning Center at Notre Dame, a hub for genetics education and outreach. Her research team conducts biomedical studies on drug response mechanisms, particularly in cancer therapies, using genomic and proteomic approaches.
