Amy K. Barczak is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and holds key leadership roles at the Harvard University Center for AIDS Research (HU CFAR). She serves as Associate Director of the Advanced Lab Technologies Core and is a member of the HU CFAR Executive Committee, contributing to strategic oversight of HIV/AIDS research initiatives across Harvard University.
Her research focuses on advanced laboratory methodologies for HIV diagnostics and pathogenesis studies, with expertise spanning:
- HIV/AIDS Research and prevention strategies
- Laboratory Diagnostics and technology development
- Virology, particularly HIV molecular mechanisms
- Immunology of viral infections
- Infectious Diseases diagnostics and monitoring
Within HU CFAR, Dr. Barczak directs the Advanced Lab Technologies Core which provides cutting-edge virological and immunological testing services to researchers. She actively participates in multiple scientific working groups including Substance Use and HIV, Hepatitis and HIV, and HIV and Malignancy collaborations, driving interdisciplinary research approaches.
Through HU CFAR's Developmental & Mentoring Core, she supports early-career investigators via NIH Administrative Supplements and Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) funding mechanisms. Her leadership in the Executive Committee shapes institutional priorities for HIV research infrastructure, community engagement, and translational science at Harvard.
