Dr. Amy Johnson is a Senior Research Assistant at the Nursing Midwifery and Health Department of Northumbria University. She holds a PhD in Social Work (2020) and specializes in mixed-methods research addressing family carers, mental health, digital health equity, and bereaved military families. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and health.
Education: PhD in Social Work, awarded in 2018. Professional background includes evaluating interventions for care home residents with dementia, children’s healthcare (Little Orange Book), and military veterans’ food insecurity. Current projects focus on digital skills for older war widows and mental health in schools.
Research interests span military widow social isolation, food insecurity in veterans, digital health equity, and caregiver support. She collaborates with Newcastle and Teesside Universities and participates in initiatives like the Forces in Mind Trust Research Centre.
