Amy J. Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of North Texas's College of Education. Her research program examines positive youth development through nonparental adult relationships, with emphasis on cultural humility and social justice frameworks in mentoring programs. She investigates how adult mentors develop through their engagement with youth and how mentoring relationships can foster critical consciousness.
Dr. Anderson employs participatory action research methods to center youth voices in program development and evaluation. She serves on the research board of the National Mentoring Resource Center and publishes widely on topics of equity in youth mentoring. Her educational background includes a PhD in Community Psychology from DePaul University and postdoctoral training in maternal and child health at the University of Illinois Chicago.
