Amy Hoeltge is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Vermont, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches General Chemistry (CHEM 31/32) and Organic Chemistry (CHEM 42). Her research focuses on organic synthesis and chemical education, particularly metacognitive approaches to teaching. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Vermont (20XX?) and a B.S. in Biochemistry from Framingham State University (20XX?).
Her educational philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning through guided inquiry, encouraging conceptual understanding over rote memorization. Her lab research has involved developing novel synthetic organic methods for fused bicyclic guanidines and creating custom peptides via solid-phase synthesis techniques. These projects highlight her dual interest in molecular manipulation and pedagogical innovation.
