Amy Fitch, Ph.D., MPH, is a Teaching Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Nevada, Reno, joining the faculty in 2008. She teaches foundational and specialized courses, including PBH 101: Foundations of Public Health, PBH 340: Built Environment and Health, and PBH 446/646: Injury & Violence Prevention.
Her research integrates epidemiologic and spatial analysis methods to study health impacts of extreme heat, particularly among vulnerable populations. Using tools like ArcGIS Pro and GeoDa, she examines urban heat islands, maternal health outcomes during heat waves, and environmental factors affecting physical activity and injury prevention.
Recent publications highlight her work on heat wave effects on preterm births, urban meteorology datasets, and active transportation barriers. She has served on university committees, including the Campus Affairs Committee and Academic Integrity Board, and held the director of undergraduate studies role from 2019 to 2022.
