Amy Cunningham is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of MA Fine Art at the University of Brighton's School of Art and Media. Her practice bridges fine art, sound, and technology, exploring themes like mediated voice, obsolete/futuristic tech, and coastal environments. She founded the Voice Laboratory (2009), fostering interdisciplinary dialogue through performances, exhibitions, and symposia.
Educated at Wimbledon School of Art (BA, 2000) and Slade School of Fine Art (MA, 2002), Cunningham holds a PG Cert in Higher Education (2006). Her awards include the 2007 Teaching Excellence Award and a University of Brighton Learning & Teaching Scholarship (2014).
Research focuses on the voice in contemporary art, with works like Smart Appliances (2014) and Oracle (2012). She collaborates with SpRoUt collective and serves as an external examiner for Northumbria University and the University of Reading.
Awards include grants from the PRS Foundation, Arts Council England, and European Cultural Foundation. Teaching specialties include site-specific practice, mentoring, and research supervision.
