Raksha Patel is a Senior Lecturer and Interim Course Leader for the BA Fine Art Painting program at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London. Born in 1972 in Leicester, she holds an MFA from the Slade School of Art (1998) and has over two decades of teaching experience focused on inclusivity, anti-racism, and decolonizing art histories. Her research explores underrepresentation of British South-Asian artists in public collections, as seen in her ongoing British Asian Visual Art Post Cool Britannia project (2021–present).
Patel’s artistic practice merges personal and public archives with migration narratives, addressing identity, gentrification, and climate change through a post-colonial lens. Her works are held in collections like Central Saint Martins and Gissings Ltd. Notable exhibitions include A Radical Decade (2023) and Home and Unhome (2020).
She has held roles at Tate Britain (1999–2011), British Museum (2015–2020), and prestigious residencies at Whitechapel (2005) and Pitzhanger Manor (2013). Awards include the 2022 London Unseen Grant and Arts Council funding (2021).
