Amity Gaige is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Yale University. She holds an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a B.A. from Brown University. Her literary works include four novels: O My Darling, The Folded World, Schroder, and the forthcoming Sea Wife (Knopf, 2020). Her works have been translated into 18 languages and recognized globally, including shortlists for prestigious awards like the UK’s Folio Prize and France’s L’Express Reader’s Prize. Gaige has received significant accolades, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Book Foundation’s '5 Under 35' honor. She has taught creative writing at Mount Holyoke College, Wesleyan University, and Amherst College.
Her research interests focus on narrative structure, moral complexity, and the intersection of personal and historical narratives. Her academic contributions include essays, short stories, and book reviews published in venues like The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Yale Review. Gaige currently resides outside Hartford, Connecticut, and is actively involved in literary workshops and creative writing initiatives.
