Professor Amitav Chakravarti is Professor of Marketing at the London School of Economics' Department of Management. He holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Florida and previously held positions at NYU Stern, Cornell University, MIT Sloan, and UC Riverside.
His research focuses on consumer decision-making processes, digital marketing strategies, and behavioral insights. Key investigations examine categorization effects on choices, multi-stage decision biases, and the psychology of consumer responses to advertising formats. He co-authored the book 'Why People (Don't) Buy: The GO and STOP Signals' exploring consumer behavior triggers.
Chakravarti's recent work includes studies on tobacco warning labels, webrooming effects in e-commerce, and cross-domain decision-making patterns among regular exercisers. His research consistently bridges psychological theory with practical marketing applications.
