Amit Singal

Amit Singal, M.D., M.S. is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases. He holds the Willis C. Maddrey, M.D. Distinguished Chair in Liver Disease and serves as Medical Director of the UT Southwestern Liver Tumor Program. Dr. Singal’s expertise lies in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with a focus on early detection, treatment optimization, and improving health equity in liver cancer care.

Education and Training:

• M.D. from the University of Michigan
• Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington
• Fellowships in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at the University of Michigan

Research Focus: Dr. Singal’s work centers on diagnosing and treating liver cancer before it becomes incurable. His NIH-funded grants examine the HCC care continuum, including prevention, screening, early detection, treatment, and survivorship. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and lectures globally on his research.
