Amit Kaushal

Amit Kaushal is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine (Stanford-VA). He holds dual expertise in clinical practice, medical education, and healthcare technology innovation. His work bridges academic research, industry collaboration, and public health initiatives. He co-founded and directs Stanford's undergraduate Biomedical Computation major, which has graduated over 70 students and been featured in Nature.

Dr. Kaushal’s research focuses on ethical use of health data to improve clinical practice, with particular emphasis on AI-assisted care, pandemic response systems, and biomarker discovery. He leads initiatives in the Partnership for AI-Assisted Care and has advised startups at the healthcare-technology interface. His clinical practice as an academic hospitalist informs his research on resident workload analysis and telehealth training.

Education: BS (Biomedical Computation), MD, PhD (Biomedical Informatics), and Internal Medicine residency all completed at Stanford University. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics.
