Amit Bandyopadhyay is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Washington State University (WSU), holding the Boeing Distinguished Professorship. His research focuses on advanced materials manufacturing, particularly metal additive manufacturing and biomedical devices. He is affiliated with the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture at WSU.

Awards include the 2025 Sahlin Faculty Excellence Award, 2022 Boeing Distinguished Professorship, and fellowships from the Materials Research Society (2024), National Academy of Inventors (2015), and AAAS (2012).
