Professor Qizhen Li is a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University, specializing in advanced materials for structural, energy, and biomedical applications including lightweight materials, nanocomposites, and biomaterials.
She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University (2004), following M.S. (2000) and B.S. (1997) degrees from Harbin Engineering University in China. Prior to WSU, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University (2004-2006).
Her research spans nanomaterials synthesis, mechanical behavior of materials, fatigue/fracture mechanics, and biomaterials for bone/dental implants. Key focus areas include processing-structure-property relationships in nanostructured multilayered thin films and lattice block structures.
Dr. Li's work is organized under WSU research categories:
- Ceramics & Metals
- Biomaterials and Biotransport
- Manufacturing/3D Printing
- Solid Mechanics
Her notable recognitions include:
- NSF CAREER Award
- TMS Young Leader Professional Award
- Nevada Regents Rising Researcher Award
- UNR Junior Faculty Research Award
