Amirah Mazlan is a Lecturer in Hospitality, Events, Aviation, and Tourism at the University of Sunderland. She holds a PhD from the University of Sunderland focusing on female chefs' career experiences in Malaysia through gender and ethnicity intersectionality. Her academic background includes a BA (Hons) Culinary Arts (First Class) from Management and Science University, Malaysia, and an MA Culinary Arts Management (Distinction) from University College Birmingham, UK.
She serves as Deputy Programme Leader for the MSc Tourism suite and module leader for courses like Gastronomy and Tourism Concepts. Her research explores gender dynamics, multicultural workplaces, and culinary arts, with a focus on enhancing inclusive education through industry experience. She collaborates across international campuses in Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
