Aminu Mamman is a Professor of Management and International Development at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester. He holds a BSc from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Nigeria, an MBA from Cardiff University (now University of Cardiff), and a PhD from the University of Wales (also Cardiff). His career spans academia in Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Australia, the UAE, Ghana, and Saudi Arabia. He has served as a visiting scholar at institutions worldwide, including Wright State University (USA) and Taibah University (Saudi Arabia).
Research focuses on applying management theories in developing economies, globalization interpretations in Africa/Middle East/Asia, and SMEs' role in poverty reduction. He leads a European Union-funded project (2019–2022) studying globalization's impact on businesses in Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, and Morocco. Key areas include organizational behavior, human resource management, and development policy analysis.
Notable collaborations include work with the World Bank, UN, and African Development Bank. He has published extensively in journals like Organization Studies and British Journal of Management, and edited special issues on entrepreneurship in Africa. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals on reducing inequalities and fostering economic growth.
He has supervised 28 academic works and actively engages in policy advisory roles for international organizations. Current projects emphasize digitalization in African SMEs, leadership frameworks rooted in African philosophies, and global health cooperation aligned with Ubuntu principles.
