Amin Heidarpour is an Associate Professor and former Head of Structural Engineering at Monash University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He serves as Director of Enterprise and Engagement in the department. His expertise includes decarbonizing construction, sustainable materials, and structural assemblies under extreme conditions. He holds a PhD from UNSW Australia (2008), and prior roles include Research Associate at UNSW and lecturer positions at Monash. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and chairs/leads several national/international committees, including Standards Australia and Constructsteel Advisory Committee.
Education: BSc (Civil) from Isfahan University of Technology (2002), MSc Structural Engineering from Sharif University (2004), PhD from UNSW (2008).
Research focuses on sustainable construction materials, ultra-high-strength steel applications, and structural resilience. Key awards include 2023 Innovation of the Year (World Steel Association) and Gold Winner (Good Design Australia). He has supervised numerous graduate students and contributes to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including courses on structural design and computational methods.
Professional engagements include Vice-Chair of Engineers Australia Structural College, roles in Standards Australia committees (ME-082, BD-002-08), and judging panels for engineering awards. His research grants include projects on steel guardrails, heavy-duty walers, and fire simulation facilities. He leads teams advancing structural innovations like hybrid corrugated columns and self-healing materials.
