Ami Skånberg is a Senior Lecturer in Dance Studies at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, and Head of the M.A.D.E. (Master Dance Education) program at Stockholm University of the Arts. She holds a PhD in Dance from the University of Roehampton. Her work bridges performance, education, and critical inquiry, with a focus on Japanese dance (suriashi), feminist activism, and the intersection of dance with urban spaces and cultural history.

- Research: Explores suriashi as a meditative, subversive act; cultural resistance through performance; and the role of dance in local and global contexts.
Publications highlight her investigations into ritual practices, sound-space exploration, and the pedagogical dimensions of dance education.
