Amelie Luhede

Amelie Luhede is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the project "Critical Transitions in Biodiversity" at the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) at the University of Oldenburg. She previously completed her PhD at Bielefeld University and HIFMB (2021-2024) through the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM), where she continues to maintain affiliation with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

Her educational background includes:

• M.Sc. in Environmental and Infrastructure Planning from University of Groningen (2018-2020)

Dr. Luhede's research integrates economic decision theory with marine ecology, focusing on how information quality affects conservation management outcomes. Her work examines critical transitions and tipping points in marine biodiversity through the lens of value of information analysis, particularly in the context of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and social-ecological systems governance. She contributes to Bielefeld University's established research focus on robust decision making under uncertainty, applying analytical-quantitative approaches to environmental management challenges.

Based in room V6-151 at Bielefeld University, she collaborates across institutional boundaries between natural science (HIFMB) and economics disciplines, representing an emerging interdisciplinary approach to marine conservation science.
