Amelia Ames is a Post Graduate Research Associate in the Department of Art & Archaeology at Princeton University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. expected to be conferred in 2025. Previously, she was a Helena Rubinstein Critical Studies Fellow at the Whitney Independent Study Program. Her research focuses on modern art, particularly the African Diaspora, feminist theory, and psychoanalysis.
Ames holds a B.A. from Barnard College. Her doctoral dissertation, titled Senga Nengudi: Matter and Motherhood, is a monograph on the artist Senga Nengudi, exploring themes of maternal identity and materiality through an interdisciplinary lens.
