Amar Abd El-Sallam is a Research Fellow affiliated with the University of Western Australia (School of Physics, Maths and Computing, Computer Science and Software Engineering) and Curtin University (Faculty of Health Sciences). He has extensive experience in engineering, computer science, and health research, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications and 25 patents.
- PhD in Telecommunications and Signal Processing from Curtin University (2006)
- MSc in Signal Separation from Assiut University (1998)
- BSc in Electrical Engineering from Assiut University (1995)
His research focuses on machine learning, computer vision, and biomechanics, particularly in digital health, 3D imaging, and human motion analysis. His work includes smartphone-based health monitoring systems, 3D Achilles tendon modeling, and motion capture technologies for elite athletes and patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in body composition analysis, ground reaction force prediction, and visceral obesity detection. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals in health and education, and he has secured over $1 million in research funding from NHMRC, MRFF, and ARC grants.
