Amanuel Kidane Hagos

Dr Amanuel Kidane Hagos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Justice Health Research Program at the School of Population Health, University of New South Wales (UNSW). He serves as Project Manager for the NHMRC-funded Ageing in Prison Longitudinal Study (A-PLUS), examining health and frailty trajectories of justice-involved older adults. Previously, he coordinated palliative care research for people with intellectual disabilities at UNSW's School of Psychiatry.

Amanuel's research focuses on health equity for vulnerable populations, including justice-involved older adults, people with intellectual disabilities, and those living with HIV/AIDS. His work spans ageing and justice health, palliative care for people with intellectual disability, health systems design, and integrated care models. Current projects include a $2.9M NHMRC study and smaller seed grants on conceptual models for prison healthcare.

With over AUD $69M in managed health grants and industry experience in organizations like Save the Children and PATH, he specializes in mixed-methods research, strategic planning, and community health service evaluation.
