Amanda da Silva Martins is a Researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam. She earned her PhD in History from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2017, and was a visiting researcher at Ghent University, Belgium, in 2015.
Her primary research areas include Public History, Decolonial Theory, Historical Fiction, Theory of History, and Literary Writing. She specializes in Indigenous Literature and Collaborative Writing, focusing on reshaping narratives around Indigenous peoples in Brazil through historical fiction as a tool for social transformation and ecosystem co-existence.
Dr. Martins leads the FLORISH project (Fiction, Literature, Indigenous Storytelling and History), funded by an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship under the European Union’s Horizon 2023 program and mentored by Prof. Rosalba Icaza. Her methodology integrates discourse analysis, intertextual analysis, qualitative interviews, and collaborative writing with Indigenous authors.

She actively publishes historical fiction and flash fiction, merging creative writing with academic research to challenge colonial narratives.
