Amanda Zold

Amanda Zold, PhD is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). She serves as the Founding Director of the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center Co-Occurring Disorders and Affective Disorders Stepped Care Programs and as the lead psychologist on the Dual-Diagnosis Specialty Inpatient Unit.

Dr. Zold earned her doctorate in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in the serious mental illness track, and finished her post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital at the Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program.

Her clinical expertise focuses on treatment delivery and innovation for adults with severe mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use disorders. She oversees quality improvement initiatives and implements group-based integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for co-occurring disorders.

Dr. Zold's research interests include:

• Stigma and discrimination toward individuals with mental health and substance use problems
• Applied interventions to increase empathy and improve quality of care
• Community-based interventions for mental health and substance use

She provides clinical supervision and training to psychology pre-doctoral interns, psychiatry residents, and practicum students rotating with the Psychology Service, focusing on evidence-based treatments for complex cases involving co-occurring disorders.
