Dr. Amanda Spry is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics Finance & Marketing at RMIT University, affiliated with the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. She holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Melbourne and has held academic positions at RMIT, Cardiff University, and the University of Melbourne since 2013. Her research focuses on brand activism, transformative branding, brand purpose, and brand equity, with a global impact evidenced by over 950 citations for her co-authored work. She is a finalist for the 2024 Thomas C. Kinnear/Journal of Public Policy & Marketing Award and serves on the editorial board of the European Journal of Marketing.
Her research interests include brand activism’s role in societal change, corporate social responsibility, and consumer activism. She has secured over $200,000 in external funding from institutions like the British Academy/Leverhulme and partners such as Lifeblood and Visit Victoria. Teaching strengths lie in market research and brand strategy, emphasizing industry realism and academic rigor. She led curriculum development for RMIT’s Market Research course and Brand Strategy postgraduate program, enhancing student employability through industry collaboration.
