Amanda C. Prugar is a Lecturer in the Counseling department at Geneva College. She holds an MA in Counseling from Geneva College (2014) and a BM in Music Education from Grove City College (2004), with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision currently in progress at Walden University. As a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), she specializes in School Counseling and Child and Adolescent Counseling, teaching graduate courses such as Statistics (CNS 504), Research Design and Program Evaluation (CNS 512), and School Counseling Internship (MSC 568).
Research interests include Trauma Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, and Substance Use/Recovery Education, with a focus on adolescent mental health, comorbidity treatment, and innovative therapeutic techniques. Her work explores how film can serve as a pedagogical tool for substance use education and how integrative supervision models improve clinical outcomes.
