Dr. Melissa Mecadon-Mann is an Assistant Professor at the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University. Her work bridges K-12 education advocacy, trauma-informed counseling, and social-emotional learning through music. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Auburn University, alongside degrees in music education (BM, Millikin University) and professional counseling (MAED, University of West Georgia).
Her research focuses on
- Cultural competence and social justice in counseling
- Professional identity development for counselors
- Interventions for selective mutism and religious trauma
Dr. Mecadon-Mann serves as Secretary Media Coordinator for the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC) and has certifications as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Certified School Counselor (Georgia).
