Dr Amanda Machell is a Research Fellow in Public Health at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Medicine and Public Health and Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. Her research focuses on child health and development, particularly addressing disparities in Indigenous health and school-based interventions. She manages NHMRC-funded projects improving ear and hearing health services for Aboriginal children in remote South Australia and studying activity patterns during school holidays.
Education: PhD (Deakin University, 2019), MPH (University of Adelaide, 2012), B.Ed. (University of South Australia, 2005).
Research interests include child health behaviors, anaphylaxis prevention in schools, and public health policy. She actively contributes to organizations like the Australian Health Promotion Association and Healthy Development Adelaide.
Awards include the 2024 Consumer and Community Involvement Microgrant and 2023 Healthy Development Adelaide ECR Publication Award. Media engagement includes appearances on Channel 9 News and ABC Radio discussing holiday health strategies.
