Amanda Gevens is a Professor and Extension Plant Pathologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, holding the Fritz Friday Chair for Vegetable Production Research and serving as Interim Administrative Director of the WI Seed Potato Certification Program. Her research focuses on the ecology and management of fungal and oomycete pathogens affecting potato and vegetable crops.

Her work investigatesPhytophthora infestans (late blight),Alternaria solani (early blight), andAlternaria alternata (brown spot), emphasizing fungicide resistance mechanisms and integrated disease management strategies. She also evaluates alternatives to soil fumigation, including cover crops and reduced chemical applications.
Recent publications highlight advancements inhyperspectral imaging for early disease detection,UV-C technology for postharvest pathogen control, andbiopesticide efficacy in organic systems. Her extension program delivers research-based solutions to Wisconsin growers through educational meetings, newsletters, and field consultations.
