Amanda Francis is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fine Art at the University of East London, where she co-leads the first-year Fine Art programme with Lecturer Si Sapsford. She works within the Department of Architecture & Visual Arts, part of the School of Arts and Creative Industries.
Education
- MFA from The Slade School of Art
- BA Hons from University of East London
Research Interests: As a visual artist and trained sculptor, Amanda explores the fluid boundaries of artistic media. Her work, often shifting between soft and hard forms, focuses on concepts of identity as a continuous process of flux and transformation. Current projects examine space/place through local and subjective geographies rooted in memory and nostalgia, embracing instability and utilitarian properties as artistic strategies.
Teaching & Practice: She leads weekly seminars introducing students to fine art principles, fostering community-building and critical articulation of ideas. Springboard projects help students enhance technical skills through workshops. Amanda has taught at Kingston University, Wimbledon College of Art, and Bristol University.
