Amanda Ellis is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Public Health Science Programs at the University of Kentucky's College of Public Health. She serves as Vice Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Director of Graduate Studies for the Master of Science in Biostatistics program. Her academic roles include curriculum development and graduate education leadership.
Education: She earned a B.S. in Mathematics, M.S., and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Kentucky. Previously taught at Eastern Kentucky University.
Research Interests: Focused on biostatistics applications in public health, including cancer epidemiology, pandemic impact analysis, and innovative education strategies using AI tools like ChatGPT. Active in interdisciplinary projects addressing substance use disorders and overdose prevention through grants funded by NIH and CDC.
Awards: Recipient of the 2023 Provost's Outstanding Teaching Award recognizing her contributions to statistics education.
Grants & Projects: Leading the Quantitative Team Science (QuanTS) Program (NIH, 2024-2029) and contributing to Kentucky Overdose Data to Action initiatives (CDC, 2019-2023). Her work bridges statistical methodology with real-world public health challenges.
