Dr Amanda Dillon is a Part-Time Lecturer at the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music at Dublin City University (DCU). Her research focuses on Biblical Reception History, particularly the intersection of New Testament texts and visual culture. She leads the IRC-funded NISAR project, examining women’s visual interpretations of sacred texts. Her work explores themes like biblical female characters, contemporary graphic design, and street art’s engagement with scripture.
Education: Amanda holds a PhD from DCU (2014). She is President of the Irish Biblical Association (2025–present) and chairs the Society of Biblical Literature’s Bible and Visual Culture section. Her book Drawn to the Word: The Bible and Graphic Design (2021) analyzes graphic design’s role in sacred text interpretation.
Research Projects: The New Illuminators project (2022–2026) investigates women’s creative visual engagement with sacred texts, focusing on spiritual autonomy through multimodal analysis and focus groups.
